Empowering Radiance: Early Detection and Awareness for Breast Health

At  Bailee Rose Cosmetics, we believe beauty begins with confidence- and confidence starts with self care and awareness. As part of our ongoing commitment to empowering every individual to unlock their radiant glow, we've dedicated this post to a topic that touches countless lives:  early detection and awareness of breast cancer.

🌸 Why early detection matters

Breast cancer is most treatable when caught early. Regular self exams and screenings can save lives by identifying changes before symptoms progress. The key is knowing what to look for and taking proactive steps in your health journey.

Step by step: How to perform a self breast exam

  1. Stand in front of your mirror with your shirt and bra off.
  2. Place your arms to the side of your body and visually inspect your breast for any changes in breast shape, swelling, dimpling in your skin or the position of your nipples.
  3. Raise your hands above you head and look for same breast changes in bullet 2
  4. Use your right hand to examine your left breast and vice versa.
  5. Your breast tissue is more than your breast cleavage and nipples. It also extends to your armpit   collarbone   and to the very top of your abdomen. It is best to examine the entire breast tissue.
  6. With your three middle fingers, you're going to press every part on one of your breasts in a circular motion
  7. Reach for your armpit and press the tissue. Inspect the areola and squeeze your nipple to check for discharge.
  8. Repeat steps four  through eight on other breast.
  9. You can also complete the self breast  exam lying down.

💕 Early Symptoms

  1. A new lump in your breast or underarm
  2. Nipple, pain or any discharge other than breast milk including blood
  3. Breast skin irritation
  4. Any changes in your skin including redness flaking or dimpling.
  5. Change in breast size or shape.
  6. Any unexplained pain in breast area
  7. For any of the above symptoms, please contact your physician to discuss symptoms.

Make sure to follow-up with your physician for your recommended mammogram, screenings for your risk factors and family history.  Early screening is key to early detection and early treatment.
